What are the benefits of Magnesium

We often talk about our bath salts being rich in minerals. Magnesium is one of those minerals that often need to be replenished & in this post we explain about why it is so important.

What are the benefits of magnesium?

Magnesium is the second most abundant element in the body and this natural mineral is responsible for activating over 300 enzyme reactions crucial to nerve transmission, muscle contraction, blood coagulation, energy production, nutrient metabolism and bone and cell formation.

When the body is depleted of this natural mineral (and apparently most of us are Magnesium deficient!) it can be harder for the body to react quickly & efficiently. As a result, we can experience muscle tension, migraine headaches, bad sleep patterns and even mental health problems such as anxiety and depression.

How can Magnesium rich bath salts help with muscle tension & general wellness?

Our Bath Salts are packed with natural minerals but Epsom Salts are made up of pure Magnesium Sulphate. Through the process of osmosis, this potent concentration of magnesium can help draw out toxins & allows for the mineral to be absorbed into the body.

By absorbing more magnesium, you are replenishing the body’s natural reserve and helping it to activate all of those enzyme reactions mentioned earlier.

As a result, using Epsom Salts in a bath on a regular basis can help to soothe aches & pains, reduce fluid retention & promote healthy skin tissue.

Epsom Salts are not the only natural salt to include magnesium, although it certainly has the highest concentration. Our Dead Sea Salts also include Magnesium, as does our Himalayan Salts.

How often should I soak in Magnesium rich bath salts to see an effect?

We would recommend making a salt bath part of your general wellness routine & indulge in a half hour soak at least once a week. If you exercise regularly, you’ll inevitably lose more essential minerals through sweat so we would encourage a salt bath each time after rigorous exercise to aid recovery.
